
DecoHive Furniture is a fast-growing furniture retailer operating in both online and offline markets across the United States. They serve both B2C and B2B customers and manage a large catalog of furniture products, including configurable, grouped, and bundled items.
Their Magento 1 store had been operational for several years, supporting thousands of customers, region-based shipping logic, multiple payment gateways, and complex product structures. With Magento 1 reaching the end of life, the client needed a secure, scalable, and future-ready platform capable of handling high traffic, large order volumes, and ongoing business expansion. The first challenge was migrating a large and complex product catalog with over 25,000 SKUs, custom attributes, and high-resolution product images without affecting site performance. Managing configurable and bundled furniture products while ensuring smooth product discovery was critical.
Data migration was another major challenge, involving more than 120,000 customer records and 350,000 historical orders. Preserving encrypted customer passwords, custom order statuses, and maintaining data integrity were essential.
The client also relied heavily on third-party integrations, including multiple payment gateways, shipping providers, ERP systems, and tax automation tools. These integrations needed to be rebuilt and optimized for Magento 2.
Additionally, the Magento 1 store suffered from slow checkout, high server load, inefficient indexing, and limited scalability. Preserving SEO was equally important, as the website had over eight years of indexed URLs, custom URL rewrites, and a well-established category hierarchy.
