
VoltEdge Commerce is a fast-growing electronics distributor transitioning from a traditional eCommerce model to a multi-vendor marketplace. Their goal was to onboard multiple third-party vendors, expand product offerings, and increase GMV without taking on additional inventory risk, while maintaining control over pricing and commissions.
Their existing system lacked the scalability needed to support vendor onboarding, product consistency, and high transaction volumes. With plans to grow globally, they needed a secure and flexible marketplace platform that ensures smooth vendor management, reliable performance, and a seamless customer experience.
The first challenge was managing vendor onboarding at scale while ensuring proper verification and compliance. The platform had to support KYC/KYB checks, structured approval workflows, and vendor transparency without making onboarding more difficult.
Maintaining a consistent product catalog across multiple vendors was another major challenge, including handling duplicate listings, inconsistent data, and category mapping. Implementing a flexible commission system based on product categories and vendor tiers, along with managing returns, disputes, and high transaction volumes, added further complexity.
